Use of Placeholder/Fake Email Addresses for Borrowers
It is imperative that each borrower has their own unique email in the Maxwell point of sale as the user's email address is used as the account identifier. We dissuade the use of placeholder email addresses, but if a placeholder email must be used, it must be a unique placeholder email, and not a generic one such as "[email protected]". If a generic placeholder email is used, all applications sharing that email address will be tied to the same borrower profile. When this email address is changed from a fake email to a real email address to allow the borrower to log in to upload documents or sign disclosures, that borrower will gain access to all application files associated with the placeholder email address, as they are all under the same borrower account. To prevent this, in instances where a placeholder must be used, we recommend using the borrower's name as the email address to ensure that the email address is unique and is not shared between any other application files.
